Audit
Our Quality Team conduct internal product, process and system audits at regular intervals in order to check the effectiveness and efficiency of our Quality Management System. We are constantly assessing performance by collecting and analysing system evidence throughout the business. This enables Bolyer to evaluate all areas of its operations and quickly identify opportunity for improvement and initiate corrective action where necessary.

External audits provide us with an independent and objective evaluation of our business and result in us maintaining our TS16949 accreditation. This certification ensures that Bolyer meet quality system requirements for the development or design, production or installation and servicing of automotive related products. TS16949 status is widely noted in the automotive industry since it demands world class quality and productivity.
Inspection
Inspection forms an integral part of quality control at Bolyer. Our quality team undertake pre-production, in-process and finished goods inspections in relation to pre-established checklists. Prior to production our inspectors check all raw materials and bought out parts to check that they meet customer-defined specifications.

During production, first-off, patrol and last-off inspections determine component conformity or non-conformity according to a control plan. Lastly, the quality team undertake a pre-shipment inspection in the despatch unit to ensure all products are finished and ready for shipment.
QMS
Bolyer's Quality Management System is defined by TS 16949 which sets out the processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving quality policies and objectives. Our QMS helps coordinate and direct our activities to:
  • Consistently meet customer requirements.
  • Improve processes.
  • Increase business opportunities and expand our customer base.
  • Increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Identify staff training opportunities and development.
PPAP
We have a wealth of experience in undertaking the nineteen fundamental elements of the Production Part Approval Process. Headed up by our Quality Engineers, Bolyer's expertise in PPAP provides our customers with confidence in our ability to understand their specifications, manufacture components to their requirements and manufacture consistent, quality and conforming products at the volumes required.
Dimensional Reporting
Dimensional reporting is a fundamental element of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). We have the facility to use CMM, Romer Arm and PolyWorks 3D Software technology to probe, scan and record measurements from a finished part.

We then generate a report which provides evidence that the dimensional specifications, as stated by the customer in CAD or design drawing, have been complied with.
Error Proofing
Bolyer Engineering work on the premise that performing all processes in the correct way increases product quality, reduces costs and is less time consuming than producing a non-conforming part, detecting the error and then correcting it. We therefore prioritise the use of prevention systems that simultaneously assemble and check by using sensors to actively verify that all components are present and all processes are completed correctly.

If we cannot make it impossible for the error to occur in the first place then our operators use poka-yoke devices to 100% inspect components during the production process. This enables them to continuously improve and consistently produce correct parts. Our poka-yokes provide automatic production machinery shutdown, therefore ensuring that the error is corrected prior to production starting up again.

Quality

At Bolyer, we are committed to supplying components and assemblies to the highest quality. Our team is experienced in delivering a quality service by working within customer required frameworks such as APQP, PPAP and MSA.

We have been TS16949 approved since 2006 for our quality management system. Prior to that Bolyer were quality accredited to ISO9000 since 1994.
